PLAY MUSIC ON THE PORCH DAY

Next Saturday is “Play Music on the Porch Day.” Here’s a web site: http://www.playmusicontheporchday.com/

I’d not heard of it before, but since we had so much fun playing on my back deck on July 4th, I’m having another double-reed session next Saturday, weather permitting. it would be great to let the neighborhood know to stroll by. It will be in the afternoon, but haven’t nailed down the times yet. ~ Ken Bronstein

Hey neighbors! If you want to join in, send me your address, time, and a blurb about the music you play, and I’ll post a list! I’ll check and see if we can find a way to put them all on the map.  Love/Fl!p   flip@columbianeighborhood.org

NOT ALL ANTIBODIES ARE ALIKE

From BetsyBrownMD

I’m not actually including this article to scare you. Yes, C-19 spreads. And there is still a lag between getting a test and being pretty sure you don’t have it. But Betsy’s article focuses hopefully on what and how researchers are learning about antibodies. And about how various tests work. It’s worth reading this whole article not only about what they are learning, but about how research works.

Fascinating report in The Seattle Times about an outbreak of COVID-19 on a fishing boat out of Seattle. The owners had worked with the virology lab at UW and Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research to screen 120 out of 122 employees just prior to departure. Luckily, they also tested for antibodies to look for prior exposure. Out of 120, 6 had positive levels of antibodies that bind to the viral capsule, indicating prior exposure. Only 3 of the 6 also had positive levels of neutralizing antibodies which keep the spike protein from attaching to human cells. Everyone tested negative for the virus at the time of departure.

However, as we know, a negative test for the virus one day can become positive the next day, since it takes a few days after exposure for the infection to show up. Within 18 days the boat returned to port due to a crew member being sick. That was just the beginning. By the end of the outbreak, 104 out of 122 had been infected, as confirmed by SARS-CoV-2 PCR testing. That’s 85% of the crew. The 3 with neutralizing antibodies did not get sick or show signs of reinfection. The other 3 crew members with the capsule antibodies did get infected. Researchers thinks this implies false positives, but it is not clear yet.

The protection the neutralizing antibodies afforded is good news. These are small numbers but add to the optimism of finding an effective vaccine that develops the neutralizing antibodies. This also supports the concerns cited in this article that the capsule antibody test may show prior exposure, but is not helpful in confirming immunity. A positive test may be a false positive from a prior coronavirus (common cold) infection, as well. Hence, some of the confusion over antibody testing and results…

FOODBANK MUSIC

I got this today from some local music buddies who are likely to be familiar to Farmer’s Market regulars, playing sing-alongs for little ones and their parents (and everyone else of course)! Since we haven’t been able to sing at the farmer’s market this year, we have been looking for another way to enjoy singing and support the food bank. Yesterday, we got together and recorded a song, posted it on our FB page and invited people to donate to the food bank.  it was so much fun! https://www.facebook.com/hotlunchfunband/

WOMEN’S SUFFRAGE PROGRAM

Former Utter Street neighbor (for 30 years or more) Linda Allen sent me this: This week, we are celebrating the Suffragists who battled for the vote 100 years ago.  At the heart of the Suffrage story is both the silencing and the raising up of women’s voices.    With this in mind, some of you know that a decade ago, I began developing a program with original songs, stories and historical images called “Here’s to the Women!”.   I believe strongly that it is a story worth telling, particularly in these times when our own right to vote is under attack.

In normal times, I would be on the road now, with bookings from Seneca Falls to Washington State.  But then, of course, everything changed.  So I made the decision, with the help of my tech-savvy spouse, Scott and others to create a video of the performance.  This weekend, “Here’s to the Women!” will be premiering at Seneca Falls.  I would have been there in person in the Spring, but I’m glad to be there virtually now.

I’m going to let this link to the trailer on my web site speak for me about the program.  It’s right at the top of the page.  I invite you to take three minutes to watch it, and then please share it!  www.lindasongs.com/suffrage

If you or someone you know would like to view an individual showing of the 53- minute program at home (on your own schedule), please go to the link directly below to purchase your $15.00 ticket through FireHouse Performing Arts Center.  A portion of your purchase will help support FireHouse and the League of Women Voters. http://www.firehouseperformingarts.com/studio/gallery/

Or, if your  group would like to book this video version of  “Here’s to the Women!” please contact me for information via email: linda@lindasongs.com

Thanks so much for watching! it is so important to remember those who have gone before and to honor their courage by voting!

IN SEARCH OF CANNING LIDS

I’m looking for 5-10 new wide-mouth canning jar lids. All of the local stores seem to be sold out of lids and jars! I am happy to pay or share a jar of dilly beans with you. Thanks!  ~ Cynthia May, Keesling Street

FL!P’S 70th BIRTHDAY CONCERT

Thursday August 27, 7 PM online

I will record an online concert tomorrow afternoon & evening down at the Firehouse Performing Arts Center in Fairhaven, and my concert will air right on my birthday. I would love to get to sing to you, my beloved neighborhood. I will be playing my Columbia Neighborhood guitar and singing at least a couple neighborhood-specific songs. Here is one link, for facebook. You don’t have to me a facebook member to watch there. I will post other links on FlipAndZeke.com as soon as they are available (maybe not till Thursday).

I’m thinking that tomorrow I will do my best to be “Mr Rogers” – believing somehow that when I look into the camera, there will be people who want to connect. If you know you’re planning to watch the concert, it would be a gift to let me know before I record, so I can hold you in my mind as I sing. For me, songs have always been about community, gathering our voices together and resting in the strength of them. This time I will have to imagine that.  I’d love your help to cheer me on.

On Thursday evening, I will be at my computer, watching along with you, and responding as best I can to your comments. What an odd, out-of-body experience! But I’m eager to try something new.

GOD OF CARNAGE

Hi there,

Maybe you’ve noticed, or I’ve complained within screenshot/earshot, but over the past few weeks/months I’ve had some computer woes..all of which were related to the fact that I was working on The. Next. Big. Thing. Which, for me, was to produce, direct and edit an online staged reading of GOD OF CARNAGE by Yasmina Reza.

I originally pitched the full staged play at the Bellingham Theatre Guild, but for circumstances largely focused in the technical aspects of the show, and with the generous support of S.O.AP.Box Players, I offered to instead present it as an in-person, single performance, staged reading for BTGs “Lend Us Your Ears, Good Plays, Read Well” program. We were originally scheduled to do the live, in person, on stage reading for this past June 13. We were fully cast in January.

Before times. Before COVID.

And most likely, unless we suddenly get our act together, the theater will dark until Phase 4, maybe by early 2021. Not to be thwarted by some stupid virus, and with the continued support of S.O.A.P. Box Players,  I applied for and received the rights to perform this show on the ZOOM platform. With restrictions.

The fact that I had the time, inclination and limited ability to set up a new computer, crash it, re-set it, learn how to administer ZOOM, VIMEO, YOUTUBE, and FINALCUTPRO-X in four months while orchestrating the Summer Concerts, as well as my good fortune to have amassed the BEST CAST EVER, I believe we may have pulled this off.

This weekend. Saturday, August 22, 2020. 2pm PST. One performance only.

I hope you will join us online for the performance and then stay for the talkback with the actors at the end.

Register in advance for this meeting:

https://us02web.zoom.us/meeting/register/tZ0oc-mgqTkqE9buHg3X1VhmsQJdQ2-YoK1u

After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting.

This performance is free. Please consider the traditional “PayWhatYouWill” that the BTG “Lend Us Your Ears” program has instilled. Free tickets, but donations more than accepted….You can make your donation via PayPal, (paypal.me/SoapboxPlayersInc) all profits will go to BTG, directed to whatever brilliant community building oriented project is deemed worthy.

ABOUT THE SHOW

Winner of the 2009 Tony Award for Best Play, God of Carnage tells the story of two upper-middle-class New York couples who meet for an evening of civilized discussion after their children have had a playground fight that cost one of them some teeth. Violence, they want to show their children, is never the answer. But violence along with rage, hysteria, confrontation, and the stripped-bare fault lines of two relationships and four human beings are what they show their audience, and themselves, in 90 breathtaking minutes.  Produced by Robert Fox, David Pugh & Dafydd Rogers, Stuart Thompson, Scott Rudin, Jon B. Platt, The Weinstein Company and The Shubert Organization (Philip J.Smith: Chairman; Robert E.Wankel: President)

The cast includes Dave Walker as Alan Raleigh, Stephanie Chrest Blankers as Annette Raleigh, Evan Mueller as Michael Novak and Brie Turoff Mueller as Veronica Novak.

This production is rated “R” for strong adult language.

Space is limited so don’t wait too long to sign up.

STAY WELL…

So Bravo for Marla!!!!

FL!P’S 70TH BIRTHDAY CONCERT

Thursday August 27, 7 PM online
When I was invited to play an online concert as a Fairhaven College alumnus on August 20th, I said I couldn’t possibly because that would be in conflict with our Elizabeth Park concerts. So they asked if I could do the following week. And that was exactly on my 70th birthday! So I said yes. If you want to tune in, you’re welcome. I will be playing my Columbia Neighborhood guitar and singing at least a couple neighborhood-specific songs. I don’t yet have links for you to click, but as soon as I do, I’ll post them on FlipAndZeke.com. This will be a family friendly affair, though not a ‘children’s concert.’ There is room for everyone!

THE RIGHT “WRONG POST”

More on your inadvertent post of “Welcome to the World”: it came on the day a Bellingham friend emailed me with photos of a new baby grandson just born the day before. I sent her the link to the song, she loved it and was sure the baby’s parents would too. It was already such a coincidence to have the perfect song appear in my inbox less than an hour after our correspondence about the birth. Even more amazing to realize it was not the song you meant to post. But, meant to be!

Bryan Bowers phoned this morning to share a new poem he’s written. We hear from him from time to time and love him dearly. So when I was thinking about what to share today, of course I thought of Bryan. This is one of my favorites of the many songs he sings. As a child back in Virginia, Bryan would tag along with the field workers and gandy dancers and learned to sing old call-and-answer songs. He’s the real deal. Bryan wrote this, collaborating with Bill Danoff who also co-wrote the John Denver hit Country Roads.

CLEANER & COOK?

A neighbor of mine, who is a good guy and community-spirited person, is fairly new in Bellingham, after living in the Tacoma area for many years. We’ve met over neighborhood issues up here on the hill. (They both live up by Toad Lake – this is from my Pix list. I’ve known Margie for years.) I feel comfortable endorsing him as a good, safe person. He asked me if I wanted to do some housework for him, and as a hater of housework, I had to decline. But I told him I’d put in a word for him on your blog if that’s OK. Also he is looking for a personal chef since he isn’t much of a cook, and has a tech business he is trying to run almost single-handedly from his home and has little time for these home-ly tasks. Here’s a quick blurb:

~ Margie Katz

Hi! My name is Maximilian and I’m looking for someone to help me with housework.  I’m 40-ish, moved here last year from the Tacoma area. I need a 7 a.m. early morning type of person who is trustworthy about wearing a mask and is unlikely to bring Covid-19 exposure along. I’m also interested in finding someone who might be able to prepare regular meals for my freezer or refrigerator. I’m honest, fair and trustworthy, have a great sense of humor, and am happy to pay appropriately for this work. I have no pets. You’d need a car as I live up a steep hill far from any bus service. Please contact me at (253) 279-6638.

BLACK SHEET

VISE?

One of those big clamps. We’re looking for someone who could put the 4” square plastic top of an under-counter water filter into their clamp, and then turn the filter, to get the top off. The filter might still have some residual water in it.  Fl!p 360-671-4511

HAPPY ADOPTION DAY

That’s funny! I linked the wrong song in my last post. I linked to Welcome To The World. Here’s the one I meant to share. Still John McCutcheon. And here’s a neighbor’s response to yesterday’s mix-up: I am sitting outside in my backyard  in this amazing warm evening. I just looked  at the newsletter and saw this song you put on it and listen to it. It was perfect for me to hear. Here’s why. My best friend (from meeting in kindergarten)  was a nurse in the Appalachian Mountains/Kentucky hills I early 1980s  and introduced me to John McCutcheon.    Then when we adopted in 1998, she turned me onto the “happy adoption day “song which we sang probably hundreds of times over many years. (I heard that he wrote it because I think his sister had adopted.) And it’s not the song that you sent, there’s actually one that is called Happy Adoption Day which is different. So you can Google that. But, my friend’s son and his wife just had a baby two days ago and I will be sending them this song. They live in Connecticut. My friend lives in Wisconsin now. She is the person I traveled  to Washington state with back in 1974 when we were just visiting a friend of mine hat had moved here from Maryland and we had zero intention of staying – but I never left. So thank you for pushing a button and a memory and I know that my friend and her son and his wife are going to appreciate this song. ~ Jana Williams, Walnut Street

UNCOUNTABLE BALLOTS

Whatcom County Auditor Diana Bradrick: “Every election hundreds of ballots go uncounted because voters don’t know to check the pick-up times where they drop off their mail. It’s really sad because these are votes we’re unable to count. It also represents a cost to taxpayers because these ballots require special handling.”

BURNISH CLAY STUDIO

Over in Sunnyland, is owned by Columba neighbor Heather Hitt. Burnish is a community clay studio that, when the world was normal, offered classes and other clay related services. They currently have a Monthly Membership program for adults and teens age 14+ to use the studio equipment. Usage is by appointment via an online system to make sure they keep the number of people in the space at a safe level. Wheels & work tables are spaced 6 feet apart and masks are required at all times. This is available to people of all skill levels as long as they have taken at least 1 clay class somewhere in the not so distant past as there is no instruction included in the program.

https://www.burnishclaystudio.com/phase-2-membership.html#/

Especially since kids will be staying home a while longer, playing with clay is a great way to make some art & have some dirty fun. They have clay available for sale to work with at home and offer firing services as well to complete finished pieces. People who picked up a Quarantine Clay Kit from Jeramy & Megan Noet of Blue Water Pottery are also welcome to bring finished pieces to Burnish to fire. There is a page on their website that lays out options and pricing for these services.

BUSINESS SHOUT-OUTS

The GOJI BISTRO  is a hidden gem over by WCC. The food is freshly made and delicious every time. I got takeout there last week and was impressed by how easy, safe and efficient the process was. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. ~ Sally Higgins

WINDWORKS at Meridian and Monroe has been skilled and helpful with all of my clarinets. When I bought a junk clarinet on eBay because it had a really good mouthpiece, they rummaged through their tub of sound barrels and found the perfect one to make it work with my regular clarinet. They have been lightning quick every time my alto and contra alto clarinets have gone out of whack, and they turned an old Albert system C clarinet from a wall hanging to a well-functioning tool of klezmer. They’ve also been really helpful as I started getting back into harmonica. As for my main instrument, mandolin, I got mine long before they carried such things, but I’d have no hesitation in recommending them now. And they do have a good selection of ukuleles, sheet music, picks and strings. ~ Zeke Hoskin, Cherry Street

ST PAUL’S PARADE

Hi neighbors, St Paul’s Episcopal Church at 2117 Walnut St. is hosting a Drive-by Farewell Parade for our rector (priest) in our parking lot on Sunday, August 23, 12-1pm. We’ve divided up the time slots by last name to try to minimize a pile-up of cars. We will have people along the way wearing orange vests and holding posters (there may be cheering and clapping!). Please let us know ahead of time if you have any concerns and we thank you for being our neighbors! – Amelia Vader, Junior Warden, amelia.vader@gmail.com or 206-218-2657.

STOLEN BIKE

We had an adult bike stolen from our yard last night.  Gray bike with a white seat for a *very* tall person, single speed.  It has hamburger bells. It was not locked up last night.  If you spot it, we’d love to know.  ~ Jessi Rado ~ 2300 block of Park St.

FREE FOAM MATTRESS TOPPER – QUEEN SIZE

Purchased at Costco about 4 years ago. It’s still in good shape, we just don’t have use for it any more. Text/email to arrange pick-up.

MASKS AGAIN

There turns out there is one kind of mask that is actually worse than not wearing one. “…breathable neck gaiter, well-liked by runners for its lightweight fabric, ranked worse than the no-mask control group. The gaiter tested by the researchers was described in the study as a “neck fleece” made out of a polyester spandex material…” This article in the Washington Post does a good job of describing the Duke University research methods and results in detail.

BUSINESS SHOUT-OUTS

I highly recommend Diamond Jim’s. Like most locally owned businesses their attendance has slowed.  The home made, from scratch items on their menu are excellent and filling. I ordered Eggs Benedict last visit there. Not only was it delicious, but its hollandaise met my high standards. The service and spacing were perfect.  Jim’s breakfasts and lunches are both grrreeaattt! Please visit them. ~ Karen Walkup, Lynn St

This is a shoutout to the folks a Goods Nursery and their kindness to me. I tripped and fell in the street, not on their property, after making a purchase from them. They ran right over there to help me up, walk me to my car, and make sure I was OK.  They replaced the eggs and strawberries that were strewn all over the street, and wouldn’t take money for the replacements. I am touched by their kindness and want everyone in the neighborhood to know. Thank you. ~ Carol Brach

Guatemalan Honduran Restaurant  El Mana is just down about three doors from the old Albertsons on Northwest. I particularly like the pupusas and the Guatemalan enchiladas. They definitely could use our business. They are open for indoor seating as well. The place is large and there is usually no one there. Staff is all one family and they are very friendly. ~ Kristin Barber

Small business recommendation:
Bellingham Yoga Collective: They are offering outdoor deck yoga at their Waypoint Park location.  Small groups, socially distanced, masked until you’re on your mat (and then again when class ends).  Enjoy the glorious water view, fresh air and variety of classes/instructors.  Highly recommend! ~ Darrah Blanton, Williams St.

Small Business Recommendation
Goji’s Bistro in the small strip mall at Kellogg and Cordata (across from the new building at WCC) has been doing it right for several months now.  When small businesses were give the go-ahead to open with certain restrictions, Peter determined that it was still not safe enough so they remain a Take Out only provider of fresh, wholesome, and hearty meals.  His staff has always worn the masks and gloves and collects the pens used to sign your credit card receipts for sanitation during their slower period.  Their close proximity to WCC made them a favorite of the students there so they have obviously lost some of that business.  If you can, I hope you will consider throwing some of your business their way. Call 360 656-6291. ~ Tom & Kathy Sparks, Utter Street

Darrah Blanton Dance (http://www.darrahblantondance.com/) has been wonderful for our kids, both in person and now online. The teachers are engaging and prepared. Our kids look forward to weekly classes and have made lots of progress with their dancing.  I highly recommend trying out a class. ~ Cathy Halka (Lynn St)

FREE DOCUMENTARY FILM LINK

On August 18, 1919 the 19th amendment was ratified by the United States Congress providing the first women with the right to vote. CASCADIA will celebrate the centennial of  this historic day the special screening of the documentary film, “Inez Milholland: Forward Into Light,” directed by Martha Wheelock.  Watch the trailer here. The film honors suffragist Inez Milholland who literally gave her life fighting for the right to vote. Her martyrdom compelled women to be the first group to picket the White House, with Inez’s plea emblazoned on their banners: “How long must women wait for Liberty?” This civil disobedience and direct action pushed women’s suffrage front and center and finally into the 19th Federal Amendment. The film will be available free of charge August 15th and 16th. Here’s the direct link: https://vimeo.com/170906971 Password: inezlight2016. Will not play without the password.

RADIO FREE FL!P: THE GLORY OF LOVE

Big Bill Broonzey

Especially that bent note at .58 sec, and also later. It was recorded solo, July 1957, around a year before he died. [I got to play his guitar at the Old Town School Of Folk Music in Chicago in 1971.]

Big Bill Broonzy (26 June 1898 — 15 August 1958) was a prolific American blues singer, songwriter and guitarist. His career began in the 1920s when he played country blues to mostly black audiences. Through the ’30s and ’40s he successfully navigated a transition in style to a more urban blues sound popular with white audiences. In the 1950s a return to his traditional folk-blues roots made him one of the leading figures of the emerging American folk music revival and an international star. His long and varied career marks him as one of the key figures in the development of blues music in the 20th century.

Broonzy copyrighted more than 300 songs during his lifetime, including both adaptations of traditional folk songs and original blues songs. As a blues composer, he was unique in that his compositions reflected the many vantage points of his rural-to-urban experiences. (The above is adapted from Wikipedia).

FL!P’S COMPUTER

I think I’m back! No promises, but so far today we’ve got smooth sailing. Fingers crossed. Thank you to the MANY supporters who brought keyboards, suggested repair folks, and even donated money. I might not need a new computer after all. It looked bad Thursday, but my keyboard has been slowly improving and I’m typing smoothly this evening! I took it to Angelo of Compu-Man out on the north shore of Lake Whatcom. He replaced the battery, which had swollen, and cleaned the keyboard. He also told me to stop eating at my computer… Total cost under $200.

I could give back the various keyboards you all loaned me at this point. Though I have fallen in love with the little silver Apple bluetooth keyboard and may see if it will work with my iPad. I think I’ve learned I have to do better backups than just plugging in the remote disc every 10 days. Getting a bunch of files replicated on the iPad might be good insurance. Thank you everybody!

FOUND CAT

We found a cat this morning (8/9) on the sidewalk of Elizabeth Street and West Connecticut. It has white with other tabby and light brown markings. The cat was microchipped, so efforts are underway to locate the owner. If you are missing a cat please contact Bethany Gray Flint. Thanks, Jason Pass, Eldridge Ave

ELIZABETH STATION PIZZA!

Thursdays through Sundays for dine in from 3-6:30 and take out from 3-7! We are making the dough (72 hour fermentation) and sauce from scratch for these 13 inch pies. If you’ve tried out take home pizza kits in the past few weeks, you know how good these are. We will be serving 5 different styles for you to try with more coming in the next few weeks. We are very excited to see what you all think. We’ve been testing these in house for a little bit now and we are excited to get these out to the public! Find the menu at Elizabethstation.es/foodmenu

If anyone wants to upcycle their political signage, I gladly take it. SEEKING A HOME

These are two young adults I know well and love dearly! They grew up here in town. I can be an enthusiastic reference for them! ~ Fl!p

We are a young couple (late 20s) looking for a new place to call home! We’re both WWU grads, now working as educators in Bellingham. Katy works for the Opportunity Council in their early learning department and Evan teaches music and theatre with BAAY and other local institutions.

Our ideal home would be a two bedroom (or bedroom and separate office/work space) house with lots of light inside, and some outdoor space for a small garden. We would love to be within a reasonable walk or bike ride from downtown (e.g. Lettered Streets, Sunnyland, York, Sehome, Columbia neighborhoods). Our ideal budget would be up to $1,500 a month, and we would be happy to do work trade (gardening, upkeep, etc.) to help keep it in that range. These are, of course, ideals, so we’re willing to entertain other options, as long as they have some kind of outdoor space.

We have been isolating ourselves as much as possible during the pandemic while primarily working from home. We’ve found ourselves feeling constrained in our lovely-but-tiny apartment, and are finding it is time to have a little bit more space, windows that look outside, and especially some green space to garden. We’ve been together for 10 years, and our lifestyle is mostly quiet save for our musicianship (guitar & harp mostly). We are happiest in nature or working on our artistic projects.

Please contact us if you have a place like this to let, or simply if you have any info or leads! References and further info on request.

SHARE HOUSE?

Hi, I’m Andrzej! I’m moving to Bellingham and seeking a shared living arrangement starting (ideally) at the beginning of September to be more available to my aging parents. I’m used to living well with others; I’ve lived in an eight-person co-op in San Francisco (6 years) and, more recently, in a shared house in Berkeley (8 years to date). I’m easy to get along with, respectful, tidy, and clean. I enjoy social gatherings and also understand the need for personal time and space. I love cooking. I run my own company and work from home (or from cafes during normal times). I’m a singer songwriter (my primary interest is folk and world music) though this has taken more of a back seat to my company recently. I’m passionate about nature & the environment and the role music, the arts, and ecological literacy can play in strengthening environmental ethics. To this end I help produce the Future Ecologies podcast and started Half Wild, which I’m hoping to bring to Bellingham. It features performing songwriters, poets, filmmakers, and writers whose work is grounded in a connection to nature and to the land. My ideal living situation would be with other folks interested in nature & the outdoors, ecology, community, or the arts. I can be reached at andrzej@halfwild.earth

NIGHTIME CONSTRUCTION

To be more accurate, ‘Bham cold storage performing in-water maintenance dredging of shipping and berthing area. Noise variance not required as it is similar to ongoing shipping and navigation al operations performed ~ Robin Eldore

——

Bellingham Cold Storage will be performing in-water maintenance dredging of the shipping and berthing area abutting their facilities on Roeder Avenue.

The work is scheduled to start on Monday August 3rd. Activities will last approximately one week. The work will be conducted during night time hours to avoid conflicts with regular off and on-loading hours. The dredging is necessary to remove several ‘high-spots’ in the channel that were left behind when the Army Corps performed their routine maintenance last winter.

Hope this helps!
