And then this morning I got this from Marla, and told her I would share it with all of you!

GOD OF CARNAGE

Hi there,

Maybe you’ve noticed, or I’ve complained within screenshot/earshot, but over the past few weeks/months I’ve had some computer woes..all of which were related to the fact that I was working on The. Next. Big. Thing. Which, for me, was to produce, direct and edit an online staged reading of GOD OF CARNAGE by Yasmina Reza.

I originally pitched the full staged play at the Bellingham Theatre Guild, but for circumstances largely focused in the technical aspects of the show, and with the generous support of S.O.AP.Box Players, I offered to instead present it as an in-person, single performance, staged reading for BTGs “Lend Us Your Ears, Good Plays, Read Well” program. We were originally scheduled to do the live, in person, on stage reading for this past June 13. We were fully cast in January.

Before times. Before COVID.

And most likely, unless we suddenly get our act together, the theater will dark until Phase 4, maybe by early 2021. Not to be thwarted by some stupid virus, and with the continued support of S.O.A.P. Box Players,  I applied for and received the rights to perform this show on the ZOOM platform. With restrictions.

The fact that I had the time, inclination and limited ability to set up a new computer, crash it, re-set it, learn how to administer ZOOM, VIMEO, YOUTUBE, and FINALCUTPRO-X in four months while orchestrating the Summer Concerts, as well as my good fortune to have amassed the BEST CAST EVER, I believe we may have pulled this off.

This weekend. Saturday, August 22, 2020. 2pm PST. One performance only.

I hope you will join us online for the performance and then stay for the talkback with the actors at the end.

ABOUT THE SHOW

Winner of the 2009 Tony Award for Best Play, God of Carnage tells the story of two upper-middle-class New York couples who meet for an evening of civilized discussion after their children have had a playground fight that cost one of them some teeth. Violence, they want to show their children, is never the answer. But violence along with rage, hysteria, confrontation, and the stripped-bare fault lines of two relationships and four human beings are what they show their audience, and themselves, in 90 breathtaking minutes.  Produced by Robert Fox, David Pugh & Dafydd Rogers, Stuart Thompson, Scott Rudin, Jon B. Platt, The Weinstein Company and The Shubert Organization (Philip J.Smith: Chairman; Robert E.Wankel: President)

The cast includes Dave Walker as Alan Raleigh, Stephanie Chrest Blankers as Annette Raleigh, Evan Mueller as Michael Novak and Brie Turoff Mueller as Veronica Novak.

This production is rated “R” for strong adult language.

Space is limited so don’t wait too long to sign up.

STAY WELL…

So Bravo for Marla!!!!
