COVID TRACING SCAMS

From David Rasbach, Bellingham Herald
The health department issued a warning on July 22 that it has received reports of residents being targeted by scammers posing as health department employees conducting COVID-19 contact investigations. The health department warned that contact tracers will only ask for names, birth dates, phone numbers and addresses. Another tactic the scammers may use is to manipulate the caller ID to appear that the call is coming from PeaceHealth.

According to the health department website, legitimate contact tracers will not ask:
▪ For any financial information.
▪ For any personal information beyond name, address, phone number and date of birth.
▪ About your immigration status.
▪ For your Social Security number.
▪ For any fees or payment associated with contract tracing.

The Federal Trade Commission re-emphasized those points and added that it is important not to download anything sent from a contact tracer in an email or text. Real contact tracers will only send text messages saying that they will be calling you and will never ask you to click on any links or download anything.

PUPPETELLER

Dear friends and neighbors – A deep and humbled thanks to you, the walking, bicycling neighbors, giving the “Little Mighty Story Box” a curious peek and appreciation. It warms my heart that (out of necessity!) I’ve helped a little silver lining to surround our somewhat cloudy bubble. Through your gracious participation and feedback, it let’s me plan with renewed joy for more shows !

I have decided to only set up on selected dates to keep it special, both for you all and for me, too. I want to have enough time in between to keep the art work as best as I know how to, the displays detailed and the stories appealing/relevant. However, I would consider “re-runs” of the show in other neighborhoods or appropriate locations if they are within bicycling range of my house. I will have a trailer with mount.

Next up is an “Evil Giant” tableau on Halloween from 3pm till the wee dark hours and a follow up the next day of the “Good Giant”, Sunday Nov. 1, from 11 till 6 at the same Story Box location, W.Connecticut and Victor St…

By the way, I am not holding or fancying any ownership, branding or copyrights for this idea. Like the little libraries, let it spread…The more we think and share in “Boxes” like this, the merrier we can all feel!!! I can attest to that. Here’s to YOU!   Cheers, “Max” Eberhard Eichner, Puppeteller

FOOD SHOUT OUT

This summer, I discovered the best food I have ever eaten and it’s in Bellingham. It’s called Clara’s Canning and is cooked by a woman named Ona Lee.  Each week, Ona crafts a full course dinner meal from fresh ingredients sourced hyper-locally (within 100 miles).  You can find her on instagram through @ClarasCanning.  You purchase the meal basket for a 1, 2, or 4 person dinner to be picked up or delivered on the weekend.  If you don’t have instagram, feel free to reach out to me directly through text and I’ll put you in touch with her.  She sells out each week!  I really cannot express the exceptional nature of her food, and her commitment to source from our local farmers.   – Jess Radovich, 2310 Park St.  609-760-6288
