BENEFIT THANK YOU

This thank-you message is to everyone who attended my no-contact, benefit yard sale on Saturday. I am flabbergasted with the results. Because of the generosity of dozens of people, over $1,100 was raised for the Bellingham Food Bank! I look forward to telling them the story behind the donation when I send the money to this important local non-profit this week. Again, thank you to everyone who stuffed a check or cash into the gold mailbox on the fence. Best yard sale, ever!

FREE WOOD CHIPS

Big pile of wood chips on the parking strip in front of 2716 Walnut. Help yourself!  ~ Carl Ratliff

STUDENT DESK?

Does anyone have a student desk that they would be willing to part with.  Probably a high demand item right now, but it’s worth asking just in case. I have a 6th grader that is going to do the all online option. She is 5 feet tall. I can offer payment if needed. Thanks!

TRAVEL TRAILER RENTAL?

I know travel trailers are sacred loved items, so perhaps this is far fetched. However, we are interested in RENTING your rpod, casita, teardrop, hard-sided compact travel trailer for two-ish months this fall for a trip. We will not be living in it as we have a house at our destination but would like the flexibility for the road trip and weekends. We are looking for a light-weight one that can sleep 4 uncomfortably. If you think your trailer could use some miles this fall and you could use some cash, give us a holler!

INSTALL LITTLE FREE FOOD PANTRY?

I have a Little Free Library that we never got put in. I’m looking to hire someone to install it. It will need a concrete footing. Did you see what the Food Desert Fighters over in Birchwood are doing?! I want to finally get my library in and start filling it with both books and food!

FAVORITE MUSICIAN ON LOCAL RADIO TONIGHT

Tuesday September 1st, 7 PM 102.3 FM KMRE

Richard Scholtz has long been one of my very favorite musicians. For half a century. His music is deeply felt, thoughtful, wise, and deceptively simple. His choice of songs is exquisite. Richard is one of the bravest musicians I know. He’ll try to play anything, with anybody, usually with excellent results. His instruments are mountain dulcimer and autoharp. He bends them to play even jazz credibly and beautifully. Richard has done a lot more than music in his life, though I don’t know if Ted Matts’ radio show will touch on any of that. I’m very excited to hear him interviewed tonight!

NEXT FAIRHAVEN COLLEGE ONLINE CONCERT

The same folks who initiated my birthday concert last week have two more local concerts scheduled, for this Thursday and next Thursday. Local singer/storyteller David Donohue, and then blues player Andy Baddog Koch. Look for Fairhaven College Music Festival Streaming Series, and scroll down to the link when it goes live Thursday at 7 PM. You can also view older concerts any time by clicking on the Video tab in the left hand column.

NAT BUDIN: NEW ALBUM

My young friend and fine singer-songwriter is just releasing a new album. It’s got one of my favorite “local” songs, Hamster For A Year, written when Nat lived here in town. It’s hilarious! I think the one titled Your Mom is another one that made me howl.
